Life-Saving Action in a Critical Moment
Jacob became a hero after discovering his two-year-old brother, Gavin, floating face down in their grandmother’s swimming pool. Without panicking, Jacob immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a decision that likely prevented a tragic outcome.
Jacob later explained that he remembered how to perform CPR after watching Johnson demonstrate the technique in his favourite movie, San Andreas. The powerful story spread quickly around the world, drawing attention to both his courage and the importance of knowing CPR.
A Special Visit to the Vancouver Movie Set
Moved by Jacob’s bravery, Johnson personally invited the O’Connor family to the Vancouver movie set. Jacob, his mother Christa, and Gavin were given a private tour and warmly welcomed by the cast and crew.
Christa said Jacob was nervous meeting his idol, even hiding inside his T-shirt at first. The visit included a fun “Willy Wonka–style” candy buffet for the boys and a custom welcome sign prepared by the film crew.
In an Instagram post, Johnson described the day as unforgettable and thanked Jacob for “being awesome and for being the kind of person we all aspire to be.”
“I speak on behalf of the world,” Johnson wrote. “We’re so proud of you.”
Why CPR Training Matters
This story highlights why CPR is a vital life-saving skill. Emergencies can happen anywhere—often without warning—and immediate action can mean the difference between life and death, especially in drowning situations.
By enrolling in a certified training program, individuals gain the skills and confidence needed to respond during critical moments.
