Passengers Uncooperative After Abbotsford Crash That Killed 19-Year-Old

A 19-year-old man has died following a serious early-morning vehicle crash in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Police believe the collision may have involved alcohol and excessive speed, once again highlighting the dangers of impaired and reckless driving.

The crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. near the rural intersection of Townline and Olund roads. Four men between the ages of 19 and 25 were travelling in a red Acura when the vehicle lost control, rolled off the roadway, and came to rest partially in a ditch.

According to police, one 19-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries.

Witness Account Raises Concerns

A witness told CTV British Columbia she was flagged down by occupants of the vehicle shortly after the crash. The men allegedly begged her to drive them directly to the hospital and not contact police. Despite their request, she called 911.

By the time paramedics arrived, police say the driver had fled the scene.

Const. Ian MacDonald said responding officers were “confronted with a set of circumstances that didn’t add up,” triggering immediate concern and a deeper investigation.

CPR Efforts at the Scene

Police confirmed all passengers suffered serious injuries. The ejected 19-year-old sustained critical trauma. Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the teen at the scene and during transport, but he was later pronounced dead in hospital. The remaining occupants are expected to survive.

Collision reconstruction and major crimes units continue to investigate the crash. Police say the surviving passengers have not cooperated with authorities and have not identified who was driving at the time.
