Surrey Cyclist Received CPR After Being Hit by SUV

A Surrey cyclist was given CPR after being struck by a sport utility vehicle late Thursday night, underscoring the critical importance of immediate emergency response during serious road accidents.

According to RCMP, the collision occurred just after 10 p.m. near the intersection of 108th Avenue and 142nd Street in Surrey. Police said a Ford Escape was travelling through the area when it struck a man riding a bicycle.

The impact threw the cyclist from his bike, leaving him with critical injuries. Paramedics arrived quickly at the scene and immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before transporting the victim to hospital. Despite their efforts, the cyclist later died from his injuries.

Investigation Details

Mounties confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Authorities stated that speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision. The front end of the SUV sustained significant damage, reflecting the severity of the impact.
