Man Killed in Pierrefonds Shooting Received CPR
A fatal shooting in Montreal’s Pierrefonds neighbourhood highlights how quickly emergencies unfold and why CPR and breathing management training is critical during life-threatening situations.
The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. on Ramsay Street, a typically quiet residential area with single-family homes and a few three-storey apartment buildings. Following the shooting, police taped off the area near Fredmir Street as investigators searched garbage and recycling bins for bullet casings and other evidence. The death marked Montreal’s 20th homicide of the year.
Shooting Incident and Emergency Response
According to police, a 20-year-old man who lived in the area was shot at least once in the upper body during an altercation with another individual. The incident took place between two apartment buildings, and the suspect had not been located at the time of reporting.
The victim was with a group of friends when the shooting occurred. They immediately called 911 and placed him into their vehicle to rush him to hospital. While driving, they encountered a police cruiser near the corner of Fredmir Street and Pierrefonds Boulevard and flagged officers down for help.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene and began emergency care, including CPR and breathing support. Despite these efforts, the man was transported to hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead early Thursday morning.
Ongoing Investigation
No arrests were made, but police interviewed several witnesses, including the victim’s friends. The major crimes unit is examining two scenes: the location of the shooting and the area where police intercepted the vehicle.
Neighbours described the neighbourhood as generally quiet and expressed shock over the incident, with some hoping it was an isolated event.
Why CPR and Breathing Management Matter
This tragic incident underscores how quickly medical emergencies can occur and why immediate action matters. Proper CPR and airway management can help maintain oxygen flow to vital organs while waiting for advanced medical care.
Training programs such as Calgary First Aid CPR and AED courses prepare individuals to Respond confidently during cardiac arrest, trauma, and other sudden emergencies.
