Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle and Killed in Laval

A tragic motor vehicle incident occurred Saturday night in the Laval neighbourhood of Chomedey, where a pedestrian was struck by a car and later died despite emergency intervention.

According to reports from Presse Canadienne, the victim was a 45-year-old man who was crossing Samson Boulevard between two intersections near 4th Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle. Police officers arrived quickly on scene and immediately began CPR in an effort to save the man’s life. Unfortunately, despite these timely actions, the pedestrian was pronounced dead before he could be transported to hospital.

Police stated that the driver, a 38-year-old man, did not see the pedestrian crossing the roadway due to poor lighting conditions in the area. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not considered a contributing factor in the incident.

Why CPR Training Matters in Emergencies

While CPR cannot always reverse the outcome in severe trauma cases, immediate chest compressions can be life-saving in situations involving sudden cardiac arrest. Early CPR helps maintain blood flow to the brain and vital organs until advanced medical care arrives, Giving victims the best possible chance of survival.

Incidents like this also highlight the importance of being prepared to respond in emergencies—whether at home, at work, or in public spaces. Police officers and trained bystanders are often the first to act, and their knowledge and confidence can make a critical difference.
