Emergency services were contacted, and a search operation was launched. Divers from the Sûreté du Québec recovered the man’s body at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday morning near the spot where he entered the water.

MRC des Collines police Sergeant Daniel Parizeau stated that investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the drowning. Police believe alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

Water Emergencies Demand Immediate Action

Drownings often happen quickly and silently, particularly at night when visibility is poor. Alcohol impairment, sudden water entry, and the absence of trained responders significantly increase the risk of fatal outcomes. What begins as a social gathering can turn into a life-threatening emergency within seconds.

Why First Aid and CPR Training Are Essential

In near-drowning situations, fast rescue efforts, early CPR, and proper first aid can dramatically improve survival chances. Being trained allows bystanders to respond effectively while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

Comprehensive training—such as Standard First Aid and CPR courses—covers water emergencies, unconscious victims, and life-saving techniques that can make a critical difference.

Preparation Saves Lives

Emergencies are unpredictable, especially around lakes, cottages, and social events. Proper first aid and CPR training ensures you are ready to act when seconds matter most.
