Unconscious 9-Year-Old Rescued at Prince Albert Water Park
A 9-year-old child is recovering after a near-drowning incident at the Kinsmen Water Park in Prince Albert, thanks to the fast response and lifesaving skills of on-duty lifeguards.
According to CBC News, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. CST when staff noticed the child unconscious in the main pool. Lifeguards immediately removed the child from the water and began performing CPR, a critical action that helped restore the child’s breathing and responsiveness.
By the time paramedics from Parkland Ambulance arrived at the scene, the child was alert. The nine-year-old was transported to Victoria Hospital for further medical evaluation, accompanied by an adult family member. Paramedics later confirmed the child was in good, stable condition.
A spokesperson for Parkland Ambulance praised the lifeguards’ response, stating that their quick and calm actions played a key role in the positive outcome.
Water Safety Rules and the Importance of CPR Training
Following the incident, the City of Prince Albert reminded the public of its water safety policies. Children under eight years old must be accompanied by an adult who remains within arm’s reach while in the water, while children under ten must be supervised by an adult while at the park.
This incident highlights how vital CPR training is during water-related emergencies, where seconds can mean the difference between life and death. Lifeguards and members of the public who are trained to respond immediately can significantly improve survival outcomes.

The Kinsmen Water Park was temporarily closed the following day for an internal investigation and staff debrief before reopening.
