The driver of a car that crashed in the Sumas River in Abbotsford died despite CPR. Bryan Volden, 65-years old was surrounded by his loved ones including his wife and 2 daughters.
Swerved out of the road
Volden was leaving McDonald Park when his 2002 PT Cruiser swerved off the roadway. He hit some wooden posts, careened across the parking lot and landed in the river.
The man might have suffered from medical distress which resulted to the accident. The vehicle was more than halfway submerged in the water. A 45-year old man on the scene smashed a window in the vehicle. He pulled Volden to safety and performed CPR until the arrival of the emergency responders on the scene.
Volden’s family would like to meet the Good Samaritan. The Abbotsford Police are trying to arrange a get-together. According to the family, Volden had a history of health issues such as previous heart attacks and an open-heart surgery in the past.
