Course Registration, Refund, and Cancellation Policy

1. Refunds, Transfers, and Cancellations

  • Students are entitled to a full refund or the option to transfer to another course if requested more than 72 hours before the course begins.
  • Refunds, changes, or cancellations will not be processed within 72 hours of the course start time or after the course has started.
  • Once inside the 72-hour window or after the course has begun, the course is considered a final sale, and no refunds or transfers will be issued.
  • No refunds will be granted once a course certificate has been issued.

2. Student Responsibility and Course Selection

  • It is the student’s responsibility to verify with their workplace or school the specific courses and certificates required.
  • We strongly advise confirming course and certification requirements with the relevant institution or employer before registration to ensure the course meets their criteria.
  • If a student registers for the wrong course, refunds will not be issued within 72 hours of the course start time or after the course commences. Additionally, once a certificate is issued, no refunds are granted.

3. Course Requirements and Conduct

  • English Language Requirement: Students must have a good understanding of the English language. If a language barrier affects a student’s ability to pass the course, they can retake the course at no additional cost if they successfully complete both the skills demonstration and written exam. If the student fails the course a second time, the full course price will apply.
  • Behavioral Expectations: Students are required to maintain appropriate behavior during all course sessions. If a student disrupts the class or refuses to follow the instructor’s instructions, they will be asked to leave the course, and all fees will be forfeited.
  • Physical Requirements: Students must be able to perform floor-based work. If you have any physical disabilities or limitations, you must consult with customer service before booking to ensure you meet the physical requirements for First Aid training.
  • Medical Conditions: All medical conditions or physical limitations that may affect participation or the safety of the course must be disclosed at the time of booking. Failure to disclose such conditions may result in denial of participation, with forfeiture of course fees.

4. Course Upgrades

  • Students may upgrade to a higher-level course within 30 days of completing the original course. If more than 30 days have passed, the student will need to pay the full price for the higher-level course.
  • If the upgrade is requested within 30 days, students will pay only the difference in price between the original course and the upgraded course.
  • Students must attend the entire course, including both components (skills demonstration and written exam) for the upgraded course.

5. Non-Attendance and Late Arrival

  • Non-Attendance: Students who fail to attend a scheduled course will forfeit all course fees. A “no show” is defined as a student who does not attend the course without prior notice.
  • Late Arrival: If a student arrives more than 10 minutes after the course begins, they will be denied entry. No refunds or rescheduling will be processed within 72 hours of the course start time, or after the course has started. Students who arrive late will be required to pay for the full course fee to retake the course.

6. Rescheduling and Break Policies

  • Students must follow all class rules, including adhering to scheduled break times. If a student extends their break beyond the allowed time, they will be required to reschedule their course, and a $25 rescheduling fee will apply.

7. Course Completion and Exam Requirements

  • Students must successfully complete both a skills demonstration and a written exam to pass the course. The instructor will determine whether the student passes or fails based on their performance.
  • If a student fails either the skills demonstration or the written exam, the course will be considered failed. To pass, both components must be successfully completed.
  • Retake Policy: If a student fails the course, they are eligible for a free retake, provided they complete both components on the first attempt. If the student fails the course a second time, they must pay the full course fee to retake the course.

8. Downgrade Policy

  • Once a course has been purchased, downgrades to a different or lesser course are not allowed. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they select the correct course before booking.

9. Administration Fee

  • All course prices include a $25 administration fee, which is applied towards the initial booking.

10. Child and Guardian Policy

  • Babies are not permitted in the classroom at any time.
  • Children aged 12-16 may attend if accompanied by a guardian at all times. Additionally, the class must be scheduled on a weekday for students aged 12-16 who are accompanied by a guardian. Failure to meet this requirement will incur a $25 rescheduling fee.

11. First Aid Certification

  • Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an approved Manitoba WSH first aid certificate that meets CSA standards, which is required by workplaces and educational institutions.

12. Lost Certification

  • If a student loses their certification card, they may request a replacement for a $25 fee. The replacement card must be picked up at the location where the original course was completed.

13. Class Cancellations

  • The organization reserves the right to cancel a course if it does not meet the minimum class size required by provincial standards. In the event of cancellation, students will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
  • The organization is not responsible for any costs incurred by the student due to course cancellation, such as travel or lodging expenses.

14. Recertification

  • No refunds or transfers will be issued if a student does not possess a valid, non-expired certificate on the day of the course. Students must have a valid certificate to attend the course. If the student’s certificate is expired or invalid, they must purchase the appropriate course to meet their certification requirements.

15. Online/Blended Courses

  • Once purchased, online/blended courses are non-refundable.
  • Students must register for the in-person portion of the course within 45 days of purchasing the online portion. If more than 45 days pass without registration, the student will need to repurchase the online portion and complete it again to register for the in-person class.
  • If a student needs to reschedule the in-person portion, they must do so at least 72 hours before the course begins. No rescheduling or refunds will be allowed within 72 hours of the course start time. If the student misses the in-person portion, they must pay the full course fee again to retake the class.

16. Medical Emergencies

  • In exceptional cases, such as medical emergencies, the organization may, at its discretion, allow the student to reschedule outside the typical policy guidelines. A $25 rescheduling fee may apply. Documentation, such as a doctor’s note with the date of the missed course, is required with the doctors letter head, phone number and doctor’s name.

17. Cash Payment and Non-Attendance

  • Students who register and choose to pay in cash but fail to attend the course must pay the full course fee via credit card in order to reschedule for another session.

18. Force Majeure

  • The organization is not liable for any delays or failure to fulfill obligations due to events beyond its control, including natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, or other emergencies.
